Artist Bio
Lindsey Johnson
I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I am currently living and working in Portland for the time being. Over the last 7 years I received a Bachelors in Fine Arts: Painting from Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, studied in Castiglion Fiorentino, Italy, and lived in New York City and Morelia, Mexico.
The expanse of my artwork has been developed during this period of time and I would have to say that most of my subject matter comes from the variety of locations that i have lived during this time.
As for me, I am an individualist. I am currently studying the relationships between art and physics as well as expanding my knowledge of philosophy, anthropology, and human history. Authors: Leonard Shlain, George Kubler, Gaston Bachelard, Ayn Rand, Hunter S. Thompson, George Orwell, Joseph Heller, Ray Bradbury, Kurt Vonnegut. Artists: Willem DeKooning, Anselm Keifer, Paul Klee, Manuel Neri, Louise Bourgeois, Toulouse Lautrec, Cezanne, Degas and many more.
As for passing my time, much of it is used by painting and reading, however i love to travel. My favorite public place is the airport. I keep myself busy on domestic excursions, but I hate to limit myself and I find that traveling around the area I live is, sometimes, just as satisfying. I run, bike, and hike. I am a concert hopper and music is an important part of my life. I have begun a record collection that was begun with my Grandmothers' hand-me-downs.
